Langlada: Why LED Down lighting become darker after used?

27-10-2022

It is a very common phenomenon that LED lights become darker after used. Whether is Downlight or Spotlight, after Langlada engineer sum up, the main reasons are following three problems:

1) Drive is damaged

LED lamp beads are required to work at low DC voltage (below 20V), but our usual mains power is high AC voltage (220V AC). To turn the mains power into the power needed for lamp beads, a device is needed, called "LED constant current drive power supply".

Theoretically, as long as the parameters of the driver match the lamp bead plate, it can be continuously powered and used normally. The internal part of the driver is complex. Any device (such as capacitor, rectifier, etc.) that fails may change the output voltage, which may cause the lamps to turn dark.

Driver damage is the most common fault of LED Lamps, which can be solved after replacing the driver.

2) LED burnt

LED itself is composed of one lamp bead. If one or part of the LED does not light up, the whole lamp will be dark. Lamp beads are usually connected in series and then connected in parallel - so if a certain lamp bead is burnt, it may cause a batch of lamp beads to not light up.

There are obvious black spots on the surface of the burnt lamp bead. Find it, connect it to its back with a wire, and short it; Or replace it with a new lamp bead, which can solve the problem.

Occasionally one LED burns down, which may be a coincidence. If it burns frequently, you should consider the problem of the drive. Another manifestation of the drive failure is burning the lamp beads.

3) LED Lights attenuation

The so-called light attenuation means that the brightness of the luminous body is getting lower and lower, which is more obvious in incandescent lamps and fluorescent lamps.

LED light can not avoid light failure, but its light failure speed is relatively slow, and it is difficult to see changes with the naked eye. However, it does not rule out that poor quality LED, or poor quality optical bead board, or due to poor heat dissipation and other objective factors, led to faster LED light decay.

Therefore, when purchasing LED lamps, we should choose products from qualified manufacturers.
